R&B singer Omarion released his mixtape "The Awakening" on Wednesday to bad Fair reviews. Most of the reviews I have seen are not necessarily bashing the entire mixtape, but focusing on one particular song he chose to remake, which was the late-great Aaliyah’s “One in a Million”. When I first heard about him remaking this song for his mixtape I figured it couldn’t be THAT bad, but then I remembered the oh-so-NOT sweet sound of him remaking AND shooting
To be completely honest, I was a HUGE fan of B2K (as every other 15 year old girl in the early 2000’s) and I really liked his songs “Touch”, “Ice Box” and even his single “Speedin” from his last album “Ollusion”, but this effort on The Awakening mixtape has me a little lost to say the least. BUT I don’t come here with all bad news though. For those who still care, Omarion is currently working on a new untitled album set to be released this summer. Maybe he should ring up his niece’s mother, singer and writer Jhene to write on the new album? I still have her mixtape “Sailing Soul(s)” on repeat #ImJustSayin’.
